  1. How fun! I love your cards and would love to win your great giveaway! :) My favorite money saving tip is to never pay retail for something. Use a coupon or wait for a sale or better yet use a coupon while there's a sale!

  2. I'm so doing this giveaway. :D
My favorite money saving tip is this website:
    www.slickdeals.net
check it out and you'll see what I mean. They give you the hottest deals on the front page. Their forums are chock full of other deals, coupon codes, sales and price mistakes. I've saved hundreds of dollars off this website.

  3. i <3 looking at your pics =)

hmmm... i already do the first two.
    1) never go to the grocery store hungry
    2) for nice brands - online sample sales (gilt, ideeli, hautelook, etc.) be warned this could be terribly addictive, or outlets (off 5th is way cheaper than bluefly)
    3) if you frequently go to a restaurant, their e-marketing newsletters tend to have coupons (souplantation/sweet tomatoes)
    4) online shopping - always search for discount codes before checking out (vs takes up to 4/5?)
    5) your credit card often has perks (discounts, presale tickets, etc.)
    6) goldstarevents and restaurants.com
I could probably go on all day... -.-

  4. 1) Before I ever finalize a purchase at an online retailer, I take a few minutes to search for an online coupon code. RetailMeNot.com is one of my favorites for their high percentage of actual, functioning coupon codes

    2) Walmart.com has an "in stores" section with lots of samples, usually about 4 at a time and they rotate frequently. The mini sizes are perfect and they almost always come with a coupon (to be used while the item is already on sale, way to go Sarah N!)

  6. I never pay full price for anything - I wait for a sale, take a coupon, or find an online code. I also trade baby clothes or buy from consignment shops.

  11. Thank you for the great giveaway.

I try to use coupons as often as I can and I buy off brand items to help save money. I also take all empty bottles of laundry soap and put them in the corner, once I have 3-4 empty bottles I cut a hole in the bottom of each. I usually end up with at least 1 more load of liquid detergent!

  12. My favorite money saving tip is use the biggest coupons on the smallest size of the product available. This usually results in the greatest savings.

  13. Get rid of paper towels and paper napkins. Buy 6-packs of "bar towels" at the nearest dollar store--they last forever! Cheap and "green."

  14. I see that the coupon idea has been said, the other day I saw this woman shopping with a binder full of coupons. I loved how she organized it, it makes it way easier to see and use. She used clear plastic baseball card holders in the binder so that you can clearly see the coupons. I'm sure she had it organized...I personally would do it by category or grocery aisle. Time consuming, yes but well worth your time when you can save $$ at the checkout!

  16. Online -
    1) search through http://search.live.com/cashback
if there are any participating retailers, you could get 2-3% cashback
    2) check to see if your credit card has any additional deals/specials in terms of higher % cash back with the particular vendor
    3)look for coupons on retailmenot.com
    4) check to see if the vendor does price matching - some places will credit you 110% of the difference

In store - same deal with looking for coupons, or even doing price comparison shopping - lots of stores do the 110% price matching too. Also, just ask! Esp when you're buying things in bulk (or planning with a friend) you can get tons of discounts through referrals or booking together. :)

  18. Cute set!!! Reading through all these comments are useful too. :P

    Okiedokes, some $ saving tips:
-Inventory your stock on a regular basis (clothes, food, arts & crafts, etc!) and you'll find that you usually have more than enough to work with rather than buying duplicates or excess
-Recheck your booked flight to see if the price has dropped...you can call them and rebook it for the cheaper price OR you can use yapta.com and they'll track it for you!
-Just got this one from Carmindy on What Not To Wear: instead of using some pricey exfoliating facewash, try exfoliating your face with white sugar instead

  19. What a cute blog! My tips are:
    1. I've created an account at Mint.com and I track my budget. It's important to know how much you have and know your budget.
    2. I rarely pay full price by shopping at outlets like Nordstram Rack, Steinmart and Tuesday Morning.
    3. I try to drop of donations at Thrift stores often, and when I do, I shop for clothes, too. I've found a ton of cute things that way.

  20. Oh I have been wanting that set SOO badly!!! But not sure I can justify $50 of stuff just to get it...

We make our own cleaner. Some vinegar and water with a few drops of citrus essential oil works as well as store bought and is much safer!

Also check the store circulars and plan your meals around the sales, as well as check your coupon stash and try to match coupons with the sale items to get items free!!

  21. Eat at home! Set aside a weekend to cook up a lot of meals and freeze them, if you don't have time each evening. The money saved and the family time is wonderful.

  22. Great giveaway! My money saving tips are to always use coupons - we cut them every week from the paper and also print them online. I also shop at the thrift store for clothing or if I do shop at the mall, etc. I never pay full price for an item

  24. Well, I'm a big couponer, but I also think meal planning is a great way to save money. Plan out a week's worth of meals and make a specific list of items you need. It has cut our grocery bill almost in HALF!

  25. I have been trying a lot of new things, but my favorite has been to call the utility/gas company and request my bill be an average of my last year's usage. This way every month I pay the same amount, and I can budget for it. They also let me rollover my credit or overage charges to the next year's average. It has really helped my budget planning!

  27. I save money by making meals and home and keeping dining out to a minimum. When I do dine out, I get water to drink and skip dessert to save a few extra bucks.

  28. My favourite money saving tip is to buy presents year round when they're on sale and store them in my present cupboard. I often buy for a specific person and also buy multiple items if they are a great deal for my kids to give their friends. Thanks for the giveaway. mybabyappleseed(at)yahoo(dot)ca

  29. Good luck with the new blog!

I try to take a second look at what I already have on hand. You would be really surprised at how often I have an alternative to the things I think I need or at least a way to postpone the purchase just a while longer. Especially in the kitchen. I go to the cabinets convinced the cupboards are bare, then somehow manage to feed the crew for a week by taking a second look.

  30. My money-saving tip is along the same lines as Laurel Plum's - to look at what food I already have and see what tasty things I can make without buying anything new. It always shocks me with how much I can come up with!

  31. I LOVE that set of yummy paper crafting goodness!

As a crafter who plays with many different mediums, I love to hit the thrift shops for fabulous finds. The mens clothing section always has great wool sweaters and tweed jackets to cut for fabric, and it is definitely the best place to get funky neckties for crafting with. I even luck out and find fabric yardage there now and then - wonderful vintage stacks of gorgeous heavy corduroy, soft satins, etc.

  33. My tip about saving money would be to buy only the things that you really need or really really love, I do that especially with clothes, I never buy something without thinking before if I will use it often or I will forget it in the closet. :D Great giveaway!

  34. I like to win things so I don't have to buy them. I like to use the weekly grocery ad to see what is on sale and build my menu from it. Also, even when things are on sale I have to question if I really need it or do I just want it because it's on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  35. as much as possible, i like to buy things used off craigslist and try to bargain (altho i'm a horrible bargainer).
also, one of my great savings tip is running things by my husband, and if you know him, you know that he's not one to buy anything unnecessary.

  36. Whenever you spend money on non-essentials (movies, going out to dinner, stamps, etc) put a dollar in a jar. This will definitely added up quickly and you'll be saving all the time.

  37. We generally try to use as many reusable products as possible. This includes cloth diapers, nursing pads, baby wipes, hankies, towels, etc. It saves money, and is better for the environment.
